What’s a song lyric that has stuck with you forever?

One song lyric has stayed with me for decades:

“You’ll take my life, but I’ll take yours too.” — The Trooper by Iron Maiden.

When I was younger, it sounded like defiance wrapped in a heavy guitar riff. As I got older, I heard something entirely different.

To me, The Trooper isn’t about glorifying war. It’s a reminder of its cost. The song taught me there are no victors in war. Someone always loses a son, a daughter, a friend, or a piece of themselves that they never get back.

The words haven’t changed over the years.
