When are you most happy?

I find myself the most happy when I’m lost in a good story. It took a long time to figure out how to enjoy reading stories without my imagination taking off, and I lost interest in the story. I began making notes in little spiral notebooks of the thoughts that came to me as I read. Soon, those notebooks were being filled with my own stories. I’m unsure what makes me happier? The words of others or the words of mine? To me, it doesn’t matter, not really. As long as the story is good.

I am amazed by my capacity to get into stories I read here on WordPress. Usually I start them by pinching a grain of salt, if you know what I mean (low expectations.) Once I get into them, I can’t believe how talented people are. I’m starting to believe what we’ve been trained to think of as “Literature” is mostly advertising by publishing houses—that is, the ‘man’ telling us what’s good and what’s not. That’s not to say I haven’t read anything ‘great’ in my life—I’m pretty well read, and I’m definitely a book snob. But damn there’s some talented writers here on WordPress.

Yes there are so many talented writers here. I can spend the day reading. Sometimes, I forget I need to post my own content. Thank you.
