PHOTOGRAPHY – MONOCHROME
I’ve never really figured out what about monochrome photography I love so much. Honestly, I’m not even sure if I need to. However, knowing myself that response just isn’t going to sit well with me. So, I will keep experimenting until it comes to me, as it’s been waiting patiently just out of eyesight reading an article in Psychology Today entitled “Ten things creative types do that drive you insane.”

It’s something about the bearded iris that enchants me. There are so many different varieties of the flower. As I drive around town I see them. I wish I could get out and photograph every different type. Now that I’m retired maybe I will have the time capture a few.
In this photo, I wanted to showcase the intricate texture of the pedals so I did it in monochrome. It sort kills the magic of the flower, because part of its allure is the vibrant color. I think we can still see another perspective of the flowers beauty even in monochrome.

I wanted to do something different with this photo. I played around with the different filters and color palettes to get the desired effect. I was odd because I was unsure of what I wanted when I started editing. What is they say? I let the image speak to me. At first, I didn’t know what it was talking about until it said “Jackass” then I realized it was talking to me.
As many of you know I like to combine challenges when I can.
