CHALLENGE RESPONSE
My approach to photography until recently can be described as meek. I allowed my fear to inhibit my willingness to push the boundaries of my creativity. I allowed an early failure to transition to art photography mark my worthiness.
Even with the success and progress I have achieved in these recent months, I still find myself unsure of my abilities. Sometimes, I allow myself to find any excuse not perform.
This weekend I talked to my brother about my limited experience with the camera. He gave me his equivalent expression of an eye-roll. He sighed and went back to work. He lifted up my camera and did the same.
Here is some of what accomplished together.
I’m unsure what changed. Perhaps, it’s my brother belief in my abilities. Maybe, I’ve begun to believe in myself. I’m not sure if really matters. I just a guy with a notebook, pen, and camera quietly recording my interpretation of what I see.

I was just talking with a poet about art, and how art is a “conversation” between the creator and the audience, each of us bringing our experience, emotion, and perspective to a shared piece. It’s why there’s so much variation in responses, and we don’t all appreciate everything the same way. So I say, be creative, put it out there, and let the doubt go. Art is a gift to yourself and to others.

I like that. My brother finished his project and we discussed the layers of art. It was just amazing combining our different mediums together. Each has the ability to stand apart, but together takes the creation to another level. Thank you.
