PHOTOGRAPHY – LEARNING CURVE – COLOR/MONOCHROME EDITING
PROMPT: OOMPH
I struggled on how to depict oomph in a photo. So, I decided to try some different techniques and see what happens.
WARNING: Not all the images came out like I hoped. It’s the journey that matters, right?
I picked a few washed out photos and decided I would do all the editing on my iPad. I wanted to challenge myself and see how powerful this device truly is.
The first Set:

As you can see, this image is completely overexposed at my current skill level in editing. There is no hope for this photo. Where’s that damn delete button? Instead, I tried to see if I could pull anything out of it.
It still is a horrible photo, but I was able to put a little oomph to it. I replaced the background and pulled out a little color in the grass area. Perhaps, with some more practice, I might be able to do a little more with it.
Second Set:
I was worn out from working on the earlier set. I had no idea how much work goes into restoring an image. I guess it’s better to take a better photo to begin with, huh?
I hoped this photo would make a decent black and white photo. I enjoy monochrome’s darker, grittier side; let’s see what we come up with.

It came surprisingly well. In my opinion, the monochrome gave the photo a little oomph.
Both After looks are great in my eyes ..So I will beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

I really like both Mangus. I love to create abstracts from dud photos. Enough oomph for me. Thanks for joining in 🙂 🙂

The tree bark texture really popped on the second one. I think you did an excellent job saving the field. Did you try monochromatic on both the original and the background swapped version? The clouds add an eerie vibe like something just happened or is about to.
