Love the short story (well, I love lots of his stories) but especially “Babylon Revisited”. I don’t know if it inspired this quote but it’s certainly one of the themes.
I’m starting to get into him now that I’m older. Anybody raved about during my school days immediately got discarded … I was a bit of a rebel without a cause.
I was like that too. If they told me to read something I was immediately disinterested. When I got older I started to realize they knew what they were talking about. Thanks, teachers!
